The Traveller And The Gypsy Girl (Unreleased)

the traveller asked the gypsy girl if she would walk with him
he asked her for she struck him so, more than did his own kin
he spoke to her of mountains, of rivers, lakes and streams
they filled each other's thoughts with their freedom dreams

the traveller wrote her music and wrote to her each day
he did so to remind her that he was not so far away
he wrote of flowing chessboard fields, of pebbles, rocks and stones
he told her once how he had lost his family and his home

he wrote to her of silences, raised voices, and of fear
he hoped that she would release him from his pain and from his tears
he trusted her with everything, with her the traveller did not fear
he told her his most secret wish that no one else could hear

that if one day he fell in love with a gypsy girl so pure
he would hold her in his arms and love her evermore
and give her all he had to give, his heart that she so churned
"my life is yours," he whispered, and asked for nothing in return.
