Ken (with neck tattoo) and friends Nao (L) from Japan and Chad (R) from KY, home of the jelly. Ken got this tattoo just before arriving at the first annual EI summer webcamp in 2002. In Arabic, it says MAKTOOB ("It is written"), a reference from Khalil Jibran's The Prophet. Unfortunately, when Ken first had the tattoo done, the artist forgot one of the dots over the T letter, thus making the letter an N. When I first caught the mistake, Ken didn't believe me, so I grabbed a nearby Arab who read it and asked Ken, "What's Maknoob?". After having to endure my cries of "Ken McNoob from the Clan McNoob. In the end there can only be one!" for at least one month, Ken found another tattoo artist to correct the typo. Click image to advance to next photo. |
